We use Hotjar to optimize our website to better understand the needs of our website visitors (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they click, what users like and dislike etc.). This enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback as good as possible. We use cookies provided by Hotjar to collect data about our users behavior and their devices. This includes the following information relating to you:

Devices' IP address (processed during your session),
Device screen size,
Device type (unique device identifiers),
Browser information (e. g. time of visit to our website and individual interactions, as well as their duration,
geographic location (country only),
Online usage data and
Preferred language to view our website.

Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile on our behalf. The cookies enable us to accesses your device for reading and writing. We have concluded an so-called Data Processing Agreement according to art. 28 GDPR with Hotjar. Further information can be found at: https://www.hotjar.com/de/datenschutz/.

Lawful basis for the processing activities mentioned above is Section 25 (1) sentence 1 TDDDG; the subsequent processing of your personal data is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) 1 lit. a) GDPR.

The retention period is:

Your IP address, device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information (e. g. time of visit to our website and individual interactions, as well as their duration, geographic location (country only) will be deleted after 7 days
Your online usage data will be deleted after 12 months of user inactivity or if you withdraw your consent

7. Third countries

A third country according to the GDPR is any country outside the European Union/European Economic Area, e.g. the U.S., where it cannot be guaranteed that the European level of data protection will be maintained.

Your usage profile consists of your online usage data (see above). It is used to analyze your online behavior and evaluate aspects related to personal interests and your approximate location and/or to predict your future behavior.

9. Cross-Device-Tracking

Cross-device tracking is used to combine your online usage data collected with your consent on your respective end devices.
